Frank Harjung, 84, of Williamsburg, Mo., passed away March 1, 2019 at his home. He was born February 14, 1935 in Sombor, Yugoslavia to German parents Josef and Elisabeth Hochscheidt Harjung. Frank came to the United States in 1956 from Neustadt, Germany. He became a US citizen on January 19, 1965. He moved to Callaway County in 1970. He owned and operated Williamsburg Package Liquor Store in Williamsburg from 1974 until closing the store in 2013. Frank also worked 20 years at the Fulton State Hospital before retiring in 2000. Frank was active in the community serving as the President of the Williamsburg Calwood Lions Club for several years. He enjoyed going to Hermann, Mo. for the German festivals that are held there each year. Frank is survived by his sister, Marianne, of Germany. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Gerda (Wolfgang), Josef, Stefan and Erika (Peter); two grand-nieces and one grand-nephew, Verena, Felix and Ines (Stefan). His family all resides in or near Neustadt, Germany. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo. Inurnment will follow at Williamsburg Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
