William Leroy Garriott

William Leroy Garriott, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019, at his home. He was born on December 27, 1933 in Steedman, Missouri, the son of the late William Royal "Dutch" Garriott and the late Ida Marie (Polacek) Garriott. On April 18, 1954, Leroy was united in marriage to Tillie (Velte) Garriott, who survives his passing. Leroy worked at Thomas Feed Store in New Bloomfield, Griggs DX, Dawson and Geldner Trucking, Wolfmeier Trucking, Edgar Perry Excavating, Manley Shaw Mining and Trucking, and Holland Mining, prior to starting Garriott's Excavating in 1959. Those remaining to mourn his passing include his wife of 64 years, Tillie; children, Ronald William Garriott (Sherri)of Kissimmee, Fla., Ida Lynn Porter (Ric) of Jefferson City, and Gayleen Ousley (George) of Columbia; brothers, Edward Garriott (Maxine), Donald Garriott (Dean), Dale Garriott (Hazel), Vernon Garriott (Margaret), Garry Garriott, Randy Garriott, and Charles Garriott (Linda), all of Callaway County, and Clyde Garriott of LaPlata, Md.; sister, Shirley Spires of New Bloomfield; brother-in-law, Ralph Case of Fulton; grandchildren, Christina Ayres, Timothy and Thomas Garriott, Carrie Fowler, Garret Rosenbum, C.J. Kennedy, and Greg Ousley; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Case; and sisters-in-law, Jeanie Garriott and Gerry Garriott. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
