James N. Custard

James N. "Deke" Custard, 74, of Fulton, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 2, 2019. He was born in Fulton on March 12, 1944, the son of the late Edwin Custard and the late Sarah (Neal) Custard. On September 11, 1966, Deke was united in marriage to Doris (Clingman) Custard, who still resides at their home. Deke worked as a mechanic at Zemp Tire for 44 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, and mushroom hunting. He also liked to watch college basketball, gardening, and cooking. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Doris; four sons, Ronald Custard (Jill) of Fulton, Steve Custard (Joanne Mackey) of Fulton, Mark Custard (April) of Fulton, and Kerry Custard (Glen Stancil) of Columbia; daughter, Melinda Schoening (Dean) of Fulton; brothers, Jack Custard of New Bloomfield, Donnie Custard (Marita) of New Bloomfield, Bob Custard (Brenda) of New Bloomfield, Richard Custard (Karen) Holts Summit, and Doug Custard of New Bloomfield; sisters, Sharon Vaught (Al) of Fulton, Susan Koprivica of Auxvasse, and Linda Guerrant (Wayne) of New Bloomfield; grandchildren, Megan Custard, Zach Custard, Ryan Custard, Kara Schoening, Karlie Schoening, Kagan Schleiermacher, and Aren Schleiermacher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
