Joseph Emerson Marshall

Joseph Emerson Marshall, also known as "Dink", passed peacefully on Monday, October, 15, 2018, at Boone Hospital. Emerson was born Feb. 16, 1923 in Callaway County. He was the son of Carl Crittenton Marshall and Lillie V. Ridge Marshall. He wed Margaret E (Tillie) Fourt on Oct. 5, 1946. Emerson's sense of humor and engaging manner made all who met him feel important. He left a positive impact upon the lives of those who knew him. He was loved and respected by friends and family. He is survived by his eldest daughter, Vicki (Wayne) Ward of Columbia; brother, Carl William of Lebanon, Ind.; grandson, Matthew Craig of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two biological great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons and eight step-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, (Tillie); daughter, Suzanne Staggs; sisters, Francis and Lois; as well as half-brother, Harold, and brothers, Walter and Eddie. On Saturday, Oct. 27, friends and family will be received for visitation at Debo Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. A memorial celebration begins at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Emerson would want you to demonstrate love to your family and, if possible, donate to help a fitting organization of your choice.
