LaVonda "Sis" Lee (Colbert) Scott, 69, of Fulton, was called to her Heavenly home on Thursday, October 4, 2018. She was born on November 5, 1948 in Fulton, the daughter of the late Richard Colbert and Thelma (Vaughn) Colbert. LaVonda graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1966. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as Secretary, and was a member of the Cavalier Choir. She previously served as Treasurer of Guiding Light Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and singing with church choirs. LaVonda worked at Callaway County Court House, Williams Woods College, and Callaway Hospital, prior to working at Fulton Housing Authority, where she retired after 34 years of service. In the 1980s, LaVonda was instrumental in establishing the West End Kanos Drill Team. Gifted with a creative mind, she enjoyed arts and crafts and making wedding bouquets. She was often asked to use her talents to organize and decorate for events. LaVonda often compiled lists of baby name suggestions for her family and friends. She enjoyed watching TV and movies, and organizing and attending family reunions. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her mother, Thelma Colbert of Kansas City; son, Gregory Scott of Fulton; daughters, Machelle Chambers of the state of California, and Kennette "Punkin" Maginley (Les) of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Victor Colbert (Debra), Gregory Colbert (Ginger), and Richard Colbert Jr. (Terri), all of Kansas City; sister, Marsha Lacey of Kansas City; uncle, Jack McBride; aunt, Goldie Vaughn; grandchildren, Gerald Tye Chambers II, Bria D. Maginley, Bryce K. Maginley, Brooke L. Maginley, Noah K. Scott, and Bradley G. Scott; godson, Monta Pittmon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Callaway Christian Church, 2051 Silver Drive, Fulton, with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Southside Cemetery.
