Martha W. Sloss

Mrs. Martha W. Sloss, 83, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born on January 14, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to W. Perry and Marjorie (Mackenzie) Wortman. She moved to Tulsa, Okla. with her family and graduated from Tulsa Central High School. After a previous marriage, she found her true love when she was introduced to Brooke Sloss at a Christmas party in Tulsa. They married on June 12, 1971, at The Church of St. Mary Aldermanbury on the Westminster College Campus in Fulton. Mrs. Sloss was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Brooke. Surviving Mrs. Sloss are her five children, Mike Allen (Deborah) of Lafayette, La., Evan Sloss (Gillian) of Stamford, England, Kerry Sloss-Hicks (Brad) of San Antonio, Texas, Brian Sloss of Alton, Mo., and F. Brooke Sloss Jr. of St. Louis. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sarah, Alexandra, Jessica, Douglas, Victoria, James and Anna; and three great-grandchildren, Teddy, Vivienne, and Will. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at The Church of St. Mary Aldermanbury at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the F. Brooke Sloss Scholarship at Westminster College, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
