Roy Stanley Arthur, 71, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. He was born June 28, 1947, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, a son of the late Roy R. and Helen T. (Urban) Arthur. He attended the Reform Grade School, and went on to graduate from Fulton High School in Fulton, Missouri. Roy worked at the Fulton State Hospital for almost 30 years, where he was Attendant 1 on the Surgical Ward and worked as an X-Ray Technician, Surgical Technician, and Security Transportation doing patient transport. Roy was drafted into the United States Army on September 2, 1966 and was Honorably Medically Discharged on December 2, 1966. Roy was a member of Reform Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, knife collecting, collecting antiques and collectibles, especially enjoyed bird watching and all wildlife. Roy loved soul, country, and all types of music. He loved living and loved life itself. Roy is survived by a brother: David R. Arthur (Kathleen) of Fulton; two sisters: Katherine Raithel of Jefferson City and Lori Backes (Anthony) of Jefferson City; four nieces and one nephew: Holly Raithel-Boston of Wentzville, Travis Arthur (Kery) of Fulton, Heather Hall (Brent) of Jefferson City, Amy Backes of Kansas City and Wendy Backes of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two great-nieces, four great-nephews; and a cousin: DeAnn Mealy (Mitch) and their son Matthew of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy R. and Helen T. Arthur; and grandparents: Roy I. and Esther Arthur, and Stanley and Ursula Urban. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Crowson officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church in Fulton, the American Cancer Society,or the American Diabetes Association.
