Mary Ruth (Humphreys) Rentschler, 90, of Fulton, Missouri, entered into Heaven and was reunited with her husband, Glenn, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri. Mary Ruth was born on April 20, 1927 in Carrington, Missouri to Carson and Cenie (McCarty) Humphreys. She married Glenn Rentschler on May 2, 1954 at Carrington Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2005. She attended Carrington School and graduated from Fulton High School in 1945. She graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville and later from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Mary Ruth taught school in several Callaway County rural schools including Baker, Carrington, Middle River, Filmore and Martien. She retired in 1989 after 29 years teaching first grade in Fulton School District at McIntire School. In over 40 years of teaching school, Mary Ruth taught countless children in Callaway County. Mary Ruth was a member of Central Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of CWF and various committees, including worship and education. Mary Ruth was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Missouri State Teachers Association, Fulton Retired Teachers and Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Fulton Garden Club and she was also a 4-H Leader. She loved to cook, garden, sew, quilt, read and most of all spend time with her family. Mary Ruth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by daughters, Glenda (Don) Herman of Monument, Colorado and Karen (Mike) Litteken of Columbia; grandsons, Austin Herman of Denver, Colorado, Jonathan Litteken of St. Louis, Missouri, Daniel Herman of Monument, Colorado and Jacob Litteken of Columbia; one niece and three nephews. Besides her husband, Mary Ruth was preceded in death by an infant son, John; parents, Carson and Cenie Humphreys; brother, Curtis Humphreys; sister, Martha Marsch; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton. The family will receive guests from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the funeral home.
