Bertha Phyllis Schwallenstecker, 75, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Presbyterian Manor in Fulton with her children by her side. Phyllis was born February 22, 1942 in Steedman, Missouri to Les and Elda Becker Vandeloecht, who preceded her in death. She was married to Tommy Joe Diehl on October 26, 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She then married Richard Schwallenstecker on September 26, 1996 and he survives. Phyllis attended Blackburn School in Steedman and worked at Brown Shoe Company and Westminster College in Fulton. She was a member of Reform Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxillary in Fulton. Phyllis enjoyed doing embroidery work, sitting on her porch and taking care of her flowers, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four children, Timmy (Sandy) Diehl of Fulton, Tina (George) Duncan of Paris, Tennessee, Leslie Diehl of Columbia and Todd (Christy) Diehl of Jefferson City, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Vandeloecht of Fulton and Charles (Joyce) Vandeloecht of Fulton; one sister, Ruby Liddle of Fulton; eight grandchildren, Robby Munford, Thomas Diehl, Caleb Diehl, Christina Bowen, Ryan Diehl, Jonathan Diehl, Madison Diehl and Bailey Diehl; along with seven great-grandchildren. Phyllis was also preceded in death by seven siblings. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Bruce Williamson at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Entombment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Missouri Food Bank in care of Debo Funeral Home 833, Court Street, Fulton, MO 65251.
