Lavinna "Charlene" Salmons, 82, entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She was born in Pinckneyville, Ill., on April 23, 1934. Charlene was an excellent gardener, both vegetable and flowers flourished under her care. She loved her family and enjoyed going to flea markets, antique shops and auctions. Her career included being an EMT for Callaway County Ambulance and an aide at Fulton State Hospital but she was most known for being "The Avon Lady" in Fulton. Charlene was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church and loved her church family. Charlene was predeceased by her two loving husbands, Kenneth J. Millikin, her first husband of 20 years and JR Salmons, her second husband of 45 years. She was also predeceased by her son, Kenneth C. Millikin; granddaughter, Dawn Furkin; her brother, Ronald Hutchings; her sister, Jackie (Hutchings) Higgerson and her parents, Virgil and Hazel Hutchings. Charlene is survived by her daughters, Susan (Don) Lyons of Falbrook, Calif., Terri Millikin of Granite City, Ill., Patty Furkin of Columbia, Mo., and Tammy (Kelly) Rowe of Eldon, Mo.; stepdaughters, Tammy Salmons of Alamagordo, N.M. and Pam Tramell of Fulton, Mo. and stepson, Doug (Nora) Salmons of Oak Harbor, Wash. She is also survived by three siblings, Kitten (Ronnie) Lee and Rick (Cathy) Hutchings, both of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Joyce (Larry) Heston of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kendall (Vic) Gross, Chad (Alicia) Lignoul, Lori (Justin) Hawthorne, Stacy Furkin, Casey Furkin, Brandon (Jenifer) Millikin, Matt (Melissa) Lamons, and Becky (Dean) Grey. She had 15 great-grandchildren, Skylar Rhinehart, Jake, Josh and Cameron Lignoul, Camden and Chase Hawthorne, Sydney Poindexter, Micah Loftin, Fletcher and Kaitlyn Millikin, Kohen, Brody and Cooper Lamons, Ava and Jackson Grey, and Eric Owen. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Debo Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held immediately following the visitation with family proceeding to Callaway Memorial Gardens to lay her to rest.
