Larry Leon Paris

Larry Leon Paris, 70, of Rolla, formerly of New Bloomfield, was called to his Heavenly home on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born in Lexington, Mo. on February 16, 1946, the son of the late Andrew Paris and the late Thelma (Dolan) Paris. On March 23, 1969, Larry was united in marriage to his partner in ministry, Sharon (Doerflinger) Paris. She survives his passing. After giving his heart to God, Larry dedicated his life to serving the Lord and ministering to others. He began his career in the ministry as a Club Sponsor for Kansas City Youth for Christ, and went on to work as Youth Pastor for Enon Baptist Church in Pittsville. Larry served as Bi-Vocation Pastor at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Holden and Interim Pastor at Holden First Baptist Church. He was called to serve as full-time Pastor at Elm Springs Baptist Church in Kingsville, First Baptist Church of Newburg, Richland Baptist Church in Kingdom City, and most recently Macedonia Baptist Church in Rolla. His service extended beyond his churches as he also shared God's Word as a Chaplain for Newburg Fire Department, Hospice Chaplain in Rolla, and Chaplain for the Callaway Cruisers. Larry's hobbies included painting pictures, attending car shows with his 1973 Chevrolet Nova, joking with friends at coffee shops, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and spreading God's love to everyone he met. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon; son, Corey Paris (Tammy) of Jefferson City; daughters, Crystal Cox (Tollis) of Newburg, Camey Garthoeffner (Gerry) of Buhler, Kan., and Cassie Moore (Steve) of Paducah, Ky.; brothers, Alvin Paris (Loretta) of Lee's Summit, and Clayton Paris (Pat) of North Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Iris Kallenburger (Gene) of Norborne, Mo.; father-in-law, Oliver O. Doerflinger; brothers-in-law, Oliver Dale Doerflinger (Dorothy) of Centerview, Dennis Doerflinger (Patricia) of Warrensburg, and Gary Doerflinger of Warrensburg; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Bailey, and Sean Garthoeffner, Waylon Cox, and Isaiah, Elijah, and Jesse Moore. Along with his parents, Larry will be greeted in Heaven by his late mother-in-law, Bonnie Doerflinger. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Richland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until the time of service at the church. Another Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Rolla. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery.
