Geraldine Ellen "Jerrie" Garriott, 70, of Fulton, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab. She was born on April 10, 1946 in Fulton, the daughter of the late Willard Murrell and the late Goldie (Newson) Dews. Jerrie was raised by her mother and step-father, the late Dennis Dews. Jerrie was married to Garry Lee Garriott Sr. on March 7, 1986. He survives her passing. Following graduation from Fulton High School, Jerrie held various jobs at the Shoe Factory, Fulton State Hospital, and as a waitress. She retired from Walmart. She helped shape the lives of several children that she cared for in her home. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and canning her harvest, reading, sewing, making crafts and travels. More than anything, Jerrie loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her memory will be treasured by her husband, Garry; son, Brian Nichols (Dana) of West Plains; daughter, Stephanie Laney (David) of Mokane; step-sons, Garry L. Garriott Jr. (Jennifer) of Fulton, and Daniel Garriott of Fulton; step-daughter, Tosha Rost of Fulton; brothers, Larry Murrell (Linda) of Hallsville, Charlie Murrell (Lavonia) of Holts Summit, Kenny Murrell of Fulton, and Charlie Bell (Brenda), Roger Murrell, Walter Murrell, Johnny Murrell and Ronnie Murrell, all of Portland; sisters, Violet Ballard (Bob) of Williamsburg, Edna O'Neal (Terry) of Williamsburg, Debbie Hale (Leon) of Fulton, and Lilly Spicer of Portland; grandchildren, Stormy Farris (Steven) Amber Nichols, Maebrie Turner and Sage Turner; step-grandchildren, Colton Garriott, Morgan Rost, Makinley Rost, Malainey Rost; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Rocky, Julian, and Noah. Along with her parents, Jerrie was preceded in death by daughter, Candance Lynn Nichols; brothers, James Murrell, Dennis Dews Jr., Jessie Murrell, David Murrell, Marvin Murrell, and Dean Clopp; and sisters, Margaret Adams and Betty Myers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Joe Skiles Sr. of Solid Rock Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
