Shirley Alice Drinkard, 101, of Fulton, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Fulton Manor. She was born in Argonia, Kansas on May 12, 1916, the daughter of the late William Hobart Pohlenz and the late Alice (Crites) Pohlenz. Mrs. Drinkard was married to Paul E. Drinkard on June 20, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Drinkard attended Wichita University, Kansas State College. She received her Master's Degree from the University of Missouri. Mrs. Drinkard joined the staff of University of Missouri Extension and Outreach Program as a Family Economics Specialist in 1944 and retired in 1981. Mrs. Drinkard was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Fulton, Mo., Fulton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include son, Eddie Lee Drinkard; grandson, James Edward "Jed" Drinkard; great-granddaughter, Billie Gwynne Drinkard; one sister-in-law, Margaret Pohlenz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson and Reverend Mindy Kiepe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
