Orville Edward Vorhis

Orville Edward Vorhis, 77, of Hatton, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Orville was born August 28, 1940, in Fulton to Orville H. and Mary Alice McClintic Vorhis who preceded him in death. He was a 1958 graduate of Fulton High School and received his Bachelors Degree and Master's Degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri. While attending the University of Missouri he was chosen to be a member of their Livestock Judging Team. He also served as a representative for the State of Missouri at the 1962 World's Fair in New York. He also went to Germany as an International Farm Youth Exchange Delegate. Orville worked for several years as an Insurance Adjuster and then in 1975 he began working for the U.S.D.A. in the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture and worked there for over 40 years. Orville enjoyed attending auctions and he will be remembered as an avid antique collector. He is survived by his sister, Helen Vorhis of Hatton and many friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Vee Vorhis and grandparents, C. Wood and Alice McClintic and Vivian and Bernice Vorhis.
