Shirley Ann Tharp

Shirley Ann Tharp, 76, of Kingdom City, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017, at her home. She was born in Callaway County on November 30, 1940, the daughter of the late Roy Byrd and the late Mary (Dye) Blue. On August 1, 1964, Shirley was united in marriage to Bennie Bernard Tharp. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2016. Shirley enjoyed reading, word search, and making trips to town to have dinner with her friends and going to the free store. She loved watching Moonshiners, Alaskan Bush People and her soap operas. She spent a lot of time watching and feeding her hummingbirds and playing with her dog, Otis Lee. The greatest moments of her life were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered as a selfless and kind-hearted person who always made sure others less fortunate than her were cared for. Shirley's memory will be cherished by her daughters, Lori Teel (Jeff) of Kingdom City, and Mari "Missy" Tharp of Calwood; brother, Buddy Byrd (Marsha) of Fulton; grandchildren, Brittaney Huddleston, Lindsey Teel, Hailey Salmons (Derek Henke), Jesse Wright, and Devon Teel; great-grandchildren, Jadynn Huddleston, Caden Teel, Connor Huddleston, Paxton Abbett, and Cooper Webb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. Along with her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Tharp; brothers, Nollie Byrd and Roy Byrd; and sister, Mary Lee Lepley.
