Bonnie Marie Anderson

Bonnie Marie Anderson, 73, of Fulton, Mo., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at her home. Bonnie was born on April 8, 1943, in Bloomsburg, Penn., to Robert and Stella Edwards Abbott, and they preceded her in death. She was married to Al Anderson on September 15, 1967, and he preceded her in death. She was a 1961 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Southern Illinois-Carbondale before obtaining her Master's Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She taught Special Education for North Callaway Public Schools before working at Callaway County Special Services until her retirement in 2008. Bonnie was a long time member of Court Street United Methodist Church in Fulton. She became a very active member of Fulton Bible Baptist Church in Fulton where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also a helper in the Bible Club at church and led a Grief Support Group for widows. Bonnie volunteered for many years for the Fulton Fins Swim Club and had served on the Fulton Public Schools School Board. Teaching was always a priority for Bonnie and she was a big part of her grandchildren's home school education. She enjoyed reading and watching birds, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Alicia (Pastor Thomas) Tenney of Fulton; sister, Bev (Robert) Paul of St. Peter's, Mo.; grandchildren, Megann, Abigail, Abram, Micah, Hallie, Heidi and Nora, all of Fulton; along with sister-in-law, Nancy Abbott of Denver, Colo. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jimmie Abbott and Robert Raymond Abbott Jr. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton.
