George Leonard Fischer

George Leonard Fischer, 93, of Fulton, was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. He was born on August 9, 1923, in Fulton, the son of the late George William Fischer and the late Edna Elizabeth (Bonard) Fischer. On November 23, 1946, Leonard was united in marriage to Edna Marie (White) Fischer. She survives his passing. Leonard was a member of White Cloud Presbyterian Church and attended Central Christian Church. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed raising cattle. Leonard was co-owner of Fulton Locker Plant, worked as a carpenter for Carl James Rentschler Construction and John Paul Allen Construction, and worked for Farmer's Mutual Insurance for 18 years. The times most special to him were those spent with Marie and his family. Along with his wife of 69 years, Leonard is survived by sons, Larry Fischer (Sharon) of Fulton, and Terry Fischer (Karen Koontz) of Fulton; daughter, Marla Reynolds (Greg) of Fulton; brothers, Willis Fischer of Fulton and Robert "Bob" Fischer (Betty) of Fulton; sisters-in-law, Mabel, Bea, and Peggy Fischer, all of Fulton; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Wallace, and Homer Fischer; and sisters, Louise Leopold and Juanita White. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bill Nigus officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
