Rea Windsor

Rea C. Windsor, 92, of Windsor Valley, Mo., near Williamsburg, Mo., died on Friday, September 27, 2013, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Mo. Rea C. Windsor was born on June 18, 1921, in Windsor Valley of eastern Callaway County, Mo., to Clifford Crump Windsor and Idabel Love Windsor. He graduated from Fulton High School and later attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. Rea was a veteran of World War II having served in the United State Marine Corps. Following World War II, Rea served on a surveying team in Alaska and later served as an agriculture instructor for GI's as they returned from the war. Rea was married on June 17, 1948, to Miriam Luise Mittwede. They lived all of their married lives in Windsor Valley. Rea was an earth moving contractor; and also farmed and raised cattle. He was a lifelong nature lover. Early in life, Rea was a member of Oak Grove Church and later joined the Old Auxvasse Nine-Mile Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, Mo. He and Miriam loved music and were members of the "World Famous" Montgomery City Town Band and members of the "OOM-PAH" Band, also known as "thirsty six." Rea was a life member of the Montgomery City Masonic Lodge #246; belonged to the Eagle's Lodge, and the Mid-Mo Shrine Club. Survivors include: three daughters, Jeanne Martin and husband, John, of Jefferson City, Mo.; Ann Smith and husband, Don of West Plains, Mo.; and Judy Windsor Love of Lewisville, Texas; three grandchildren, Zach Smith of West Plains, Mo., Jessica Windsor Love, and Emily Luise Windsor Love both of Lewisville, Texas; one sister, Peggy Smith, of Jefferson City, Mo.; brother-in-law, Larry Owens, of Texas; sister-in-law, Marilyn Pogue of Rolla, Mo. and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Windsor was preceded in death by his parents; by two wives, Miriam and Evelyn; son-in-law, Bill Love; three brothers, Mason, Ogden and Doyle Windsor; and two sisters, Ruby Koupal and Virgina Tate. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the Oak Grove Cemetery, near Williamsburg, Mo. The Reverend Jim Cruickshank will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Mo.
