Jared Douglas Cox, 27, of Fulton went to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born February 20, 1986, the son of Jim and Sonia Cox. Jared was only a few hours old when his family learned of his life-threatening heart problems. Regardless of the trials and tribulations his health presented, Jared always woke up with a smile on his face. Jared was a big fan of Michael Jordan and the St. Louis Cardinals. Jared graduated from Fulton High School in 2005. His most important treasure was his time with family. In addition to his parents, Jared will be greatly missed by his sister, Jaime (Cale) Fessler of St. Joseph, Mo.; his dog, Max; aunts, Jeaneal (Bob) Alexander of Fulton, and Mikki Starmer of Fulton; uncles Bruce (Paula) Cox of Hatton and Gary (Carol) Cox of Ohio; great-uncle, Wilkie (Jolita) Williams of Ark.; cousins, Amy (Steve) Fleming, Jenny Alexander, Rob Alexander, Clint (Tiffany) Cox, Sam Doerhoff, Brad Doerhoff, Mattie Starmer, Luke Starmer, Jenna Starmer, Cassandra Cox, and Courtney Cox. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John R. "Bud" and Bette Sue Cox, Dorothy Kohman, and Neal and Buanita Miller; great-grandmother, Elsie Williams; aunt, Helaine Doerhoff-McCown; and uncle, Steve Cox. Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Gary Garrett officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jared Cox fund to help with medical bills or to the Dream Factory, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
