William Reid Yancey

William Reid Yancey, 86, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away Thurs., August, 29, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born March 23, 1927, in Guthrie, Mo., one of 10 children of Samuel Chester and Alpha Omega Brown Yancey. Bill was a graduate of New Bloomfield High School and attended two years at the University of Missouri - Columbia. Bill was united in marriage to Ruth Kennison on March 20, 1948, in Omaha, Neb. Bill was part owner of Bowles Livestock Commission Company of Omaha, Neb. He was a cattle buyer most of his adult life and bought cattle in 21 states and Canada. One of his best customers was famous Texas oil baron H.L. Hunt of Dallas, Texas. He was a 19 year member of Providence Baptist Church, New Bloomfield, Mo. and was also a member of the New Bloomfield Masonic Lodge, Tangiers Shrine Temple in Omaha, Neb., and the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons: Richard "Dick" Yancey and his wife Judy of Indianapolis, Ind., William "Billy" Yancey and his wife Linda of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Chick Suggett and her husband Tim of New Bloomfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Dondi, Jenni, Scott, Rich, Suzy, David, Nicole and Meredith; 15 great- grandchildren: Matt, Keith, Cory, Claire, Katy, Anna, Allen, Adam, Caleb, Gabrielle, Madeline, Lucy, Pepper, Tatum and Morgan; and one great-great granddaughter, Anna. He is also survived by sisters: Dean Fromme, Ruth Keown, Polly Dinning, and Mary Lou Patterson of Jefferson City, Mo., Helen Replogle of Fresno, Calif.; brother, J. Curtis Yancey of New Bloomfield, Mo., and numerous nephews and nieces. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Chester and Alpha Yancey of New Bloomfield, Mo.; sisters, Carmen Kolb of Jefferson City, Mo., Jeannie Hachadourian of Fresno, Calif.; brother, Hudson Brown Yancey of New Bloomfield, Mo.; and one daughter, Donna Ruth (Yancey) Eyde. A Masonic service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, Mo. Friends will be received from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday at the Providence Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Jim Shaver officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Dry Fork Church Cemetery near Guthrie. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, New Bloomfield Area Historical Society or a charity of the donor's choice in Bill's memory.
