Wilma J. Hobbs

Wilma J. (Watson) Hobbs, 87, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor in Fulton. She was born in Readsville, Mo. August 9, 1926, the daughter of the late Sylvester Watson and the late Ella Mae Watson. She was united in marriage to Leonard C. Hobbs on May 19, 1946. He preceded her in death. Wilma was active in American Legion Auxiliary, Bethel United Methodist Church and served as a leader in Girl Scouts for many years. She delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. Wilma worked at Dora's and Pompeii clothing stores. Wilma is survived by two children, Gwynne LaRue and her husband Dale, and Duane Hobbs and his wife Darlene, all of Fulton; three granddaughters, Amy (Brian) Dittmer, Courtney (Shawn) Bedford, and Ashley Hobbs; three great-grandchildren, Ava Dittmer, and Parker and Cooper Bedford; two half-brothers, Bill and Donnie Watson; and two half-sisters, Louise (Bill) Huff and Alva (James) Polacek. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents; two brothers, Richard and Calvin Watson; and one half-sister, Dorothy Kruetz. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Private interment followed at Bethel Cemetery in Readsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Wilma's name to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
