Wallace Knight

Wallace A. Knight, 89, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at The Neighborhoods at Tiger Place in Columbia. He was born August 19, 1923, in Rochester, Ky., the son of the late Veachel Eben Knight and the late Bessie (Beck) Knight. On January 27, 1945, Wallace was united in marriage to Fairy H. Knight, who preceded him in death on February 10, 2008. Wallace was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fulton. He attended the University of Western Kentucky and the University of Maryland. Wallace was a WWII veteran and served in the US Navy. He worked for the USDA as a Soil Conservationist. Wallace was a member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed taking part in various volunteer works throughout the community. Wallace was very environmentally conscious and enjoyed conservation activities and the celebration of Earth Day. Wallace will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Benjamin L. Knight of Bel Air; one daughter, Ellen L. Heislen and husband Mark F. of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Megan G. Omeragic and husband Darko, and Lauren G. Young and husband, Philip; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, and Sabrina; and one son-in-law, Douglas Garrett of Columbia. In addition to his wife and parents, Wallace was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dinah Faber; and one brother, Theron Knight. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Fulton with Pastor R.W. Beard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday also at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton.
