Newman Peyton Starke Jr.

Newman Peyton Starke Jr., 92, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Audrain Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1920, in Boone County, the son of the late Newman Peyton Starke Sr. and the late Nettie (Crews) Starke. On April 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ardyth (Hunter) Starke, who preceded him in death. Newman was a graduate of Montgomery County High School. He served our country from 1941-1945 in the US Army, having been stationed in North Africa and Italy. Newman was also a lifelong farmer. Newman will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Kathryn Canfield and husband, Craig, of Naples, Fla, and Jeanie Starke of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Candice Carter and husband, Michael, and children, Isabella, Gabriella, and Michael James of Cape Coral, Fla; Nathan Canfield and wife, Jessica, of Columbia; Jessica Diaz and husband, Julio and children, Ava, Max, and Elijah of Fort Myers, Fla; and Zachary Canfield of Naples, Fla; one sister, Sarah Ann Nevins of Overland Park, Kan.; seven nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Ardyth, Newman was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Starke, and one sister, Doris Pointer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Haldeman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Interment will be held in the Auxvasse Cemetery.
