Louise Cleta Rombach Haas

Louise Cleta Rombach Haas, 93, of New Florence, died Friday,July 13, 2012, at the New Florence Nursing and Care Center in New Florence. Louise Cleta Haas was born May 7, 1919, in Creve Couer, to Karl Rombach and Magdaline Santo Rombach. She married Elmer Haas on April 26, 1941, in Bellefontaine. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2010. She was a sub mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Chesterfield area for over 25 years. After the Haases moved to New Florence, they farmed together for many years until they retired. She was a very hard worker, she helped her husband farm, had a big garden, and was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill, and also a member of the Church Ladies Aids of the church. She enjoyed shopping, dancing and most of all spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Elmer Haas; and six brothers and sisters, Karl Rombach, Jr., Marie Niehaus, Raymond Rombach, Al Rombach, Bertha Trider, and Walter Rombach. She is survived by: four children, Thomas Haas and wife, Beth, of Fulton, Jacqueline Viehmann and husband, Donald, of New Florence, Robert Haas and wife, Kathy, of Nesbit, Miss., and Lesa Jonas and husband, Rick, of New Florence; eleven grandchildren, Mike and Chris Haas, Julie Bower, Donald Haas, Sherri Flynn, Jim and Steve Viehmann, Travis and Kyle Jonas, and Tad and Ashley Haas; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Josh, Megan, Katelyn, Riece, Samantha, Derek, Arren, Colton, Alison, Codi, Acacia, Bella, Macy, and Emmitt. She is also survived by: one sister, Lucille Daughtey of Cave Springs; two brothers, Norman Rombach of Chesterfield; Emil Rombach and wife, Maggie, also of Chesterfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at St. John's United Church of Christ in High Hill. The Reverend Don Deeker and the Reverend Tom Higgins will officiate and interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens north of Montgomery City. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Casketbearers will include all of Mrs. Haas' grandchildren.
