Chester Lloyd Payne, 80, of Fulton, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his home. He was born March 1, 1932, in Steedman, the son of the late Lloyd Payne and the late Stella (Vinyard) Payne. On February 27, 1964, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean (Miller) Payne, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2005. Chester served his country in the US Army. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was a founding member of the Owl Creek Sportsmen Club in Millersburg. Chester will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Charles "Chuck" Payne and wife, Candy, of Inverness, Fla.; two daughters, Vicky Hurshman and husband, Todd, of South Carolina, and Melody Worley and husband, Ed, of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Martha Bolton and husband, Jack, of Fulton; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Worley, Eric Worley, Megan Richardson, Dalton Payne, Lance Miller, Natasha Miller, Wendy Henke, Dustin Hurshman, Tonia Dickson, Chad Hurshman, and Heath Hurshman; 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way; four nieces; one nephew; and best friend and companion, Lillie Pendegraft. In addition to his parents and his wife, Chester was preceded in death by two infant children; one brother, Billie Paul Payne; two infant brothers; and one stepson, Terry Miller. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, MO 65251.
