Steve Robert Kemp, 63, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab in Fulton. Steve's earthly arrival was on October 22, 1947, in High Hill, Mo. Steve is the son of Eulie Jones and Joann Kemp. Steve graduated from Warrenton High School in 1968. He soon after entered the Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam and spent time in Germany. After leaving the military, he was employed in the manufacturing industry working at Lear Jet (Wichita, Kan.), Pepsi-Co (Warrenton, Mo.), Stride Rite (Fulton, Mo.), and Au Bon Pain (Mexico, Mo). Steve attended Second Christian Church, where he also served as janitor. He enjoyed the special time this gave him for personal reflection in the prayer room. Steve was a "people person" who never met a stranger, just new friends to enjoy. One of his greatest passions was fishing and he was willing to take anyone along for a day on the bank. Steve married LeWanda Williams Jackson on March 25, 2006, a highlight of a relationship lasting more than 18 years. He is survived by his wife, LeWanda Williams Jackson of the home; five children, Steven T. Sanderson, of California, Steven R. (Kochera) Brandt of Atlanta, Ga., Brengetta L. Bradford of Phoenix, Ariz., Shane Mann and Trent Mann of Warrenton, Mo.; four step-daughters, Erica (James) Fisher, Shavawna Jackson, Kendra Jackson, and Kirstin Jackson-Pippen, all of Kansas City, Mo.; six brothers, Wilson (Rita) Jones, Wendall Jones, Larry Jones, Donnie (Debra) Jones, Lonnie Young, and Mike Young; five sisters, Patricia (Alvin) Horn, Jean Jones, Marsha Talton, Peggy (Marvin) Jones-Foxx, and Gale Lynn (Alfred) Wheeler; 10 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Young; and one sister, Diane Miles. Steve will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Second Christian Church in Fulton with Reverend Cedric Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Southside Cemetery.
