Emma Sue Blount, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2011, at home, after a long battle with cancer. She was born August 1, 1929, in Stilwell, Okla., the daughter of the late Jack and Lela Bishop, and sister to the late Jackie Pugh Bishop. On August 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Charles Richard Blount, who survives her passing. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to garden, cook, play bridge, and follow Cardinals baseball. She was a member of the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Mo. and served as hostess for the 55+ fellowship group. She also served as hostess for the Retired United Methodist Pastors and Spouses for many years. In addition to her husband, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Jack Blount and his wife, Cindy of Park City, Utah and Mark Blount of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter, Susan Gemming and her husband, Craig of Columbia, Mo.; and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robin Blount of Columbia, Mo. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Kelley (Blount) Krohnert and husband, Paul of Atlanta, Ga.; Jackson Blount and wife, Alicia of Park City, Utah; Lucas, Jacob and Nathan Blount of Columbia, Mo.; Jennifer (Gemming) Self and husband, Zac of Austin, Texas; and Nicholas and Jeffrey Gemming of Columbia, Mo. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Andrea Krohnert and Madelynn Gemming. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Richard Blount II; and granddaughter, Connie Michelle Blount. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Mo., on Sunday, November 13, 2011, with funeral services following at 2:30 p.m., officiated by Reverend Amy Gearhart. Interment will be at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Mo., following the service.
