Wilbert Vernon "Webb" Phillips, 85, of Fulton, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Riverview Nursing Center. He was born May 24, 1926, in Ashland, Mo., the son of the late Alfred and Julia Ann (Brizendine) Phillips. Webb owned and operated Phillips Grocery in Fulton, Mo., from 1962 - 1970; he was a butcher for over 50 years. He retired from Missouri School for the Deaf, where he worked in night security. Webb was an avid fisherman. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Shelia Adams of Fulton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Christina Verdugo, Robin Patrick, Cindy Benningfield and Michael Dudley; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Don (Mary Lou) Phillips of Fulton, Mo.; and two sisters, Margaret Matteson and Mildred Colter, both of Fulton, Mo. His parents; three brothers, Edward Phillips, Troy Phillips and Norman Phillips; and one sister, Patty Phillips, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo., with Reverend Walter Lockhart officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
