Boys' basketball: South Callaway 57, Missouri Military Academy 51

BELLE - Senior guard Treysen Gray logged 31 points to help launch the Bulldogs past the Colonels in pool play at the Belle Tournament on Tuesday night.

South Callaway (6-9) - which has won four of its last five - led 12-10 after one quarter, but MMA edged the Bulldogs 20-18 in the second quarter to pull even at 30-all at halftime. South Callaway responded by outscoring the Colonels 13-8 in the third quarter to take a 43-38 advantage, then held off MMA by outscoring it 14-13 in the fourth quarter.

"This was a close game throughout and our guys were very resilient and battled through," Bulldogs head coach Seth Thomas said. "Close games like this favor the teams that make the little plays that don't jump out on the stat sheet - execution, rotations on defense and 50/50 plays.

"Our guys put themselves in the right spots throughout the game. I'm very proud of the effort and how we have been playing as of late."

South Callaway completes pool play against host Belle at 5 p.m. today.
