Baseball: Wildcats trample Prairie Home 17-0

NEW BLOOMFIELD - Three New Bloomfield players combined for four hits and 11 runs batted in as the Wildcats throttled the Prairie Home Panthers in a 17-0 rampage Friday night.

Sophomore starter Robbie Bradley and sophomore reliever William Rogers also paired up on a two-hit shutout for New Bloomfield (6-6).

The Wildcats jolted Prairie Home at the outset with a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning. New Bloomfield tacked on four runs apiece in the second and third, stopping the game on the mercy rule after five innings.

Senior left fielder Nick Hamman went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, four RBI and two runs scored as the Wildcats accumulated 11 hits, six going for extra bases. Freshman third baseman Kaleb Brandt finished 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI, while junior right fielder Conner Edwards was 1-for-1 with a double, four RBI and scored three times.

Junior shortstop Luke Nadler went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored for New Blooomfield. Junior catcher RJ Saleny finished 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and scored twice.

Bradley allowed one hit over three innings to pick up his first win of the season. Bradley (1-0) struck out four and walked three.

Rogers put the finishing touches on the shutout by giving up one hit in two innings. He recorded three strikeouts and issued one walk.

New Bloomfield travels to Jefferson City to face Calvary Lutheran at 5 p.m. Monday. The Wildcats flattened the Lions 15-0 in the fifth-place game of the New Bloomfield/Calvary Lutheran Tournament on April 14 in Jefferson City.
