Baseball: Eugene 12, New Bloomfield 0

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Wildcats managed only two hits and committed six errors in Monday night's Show-Me Conference loss to the Eagles.

Eugene broke on top with three runs in the top of the first inning, then added two apiece in the second and third, and one in the fourth to build an 8-0 lead. The Eagles then tallied four runs in the fifth to end the game on the mercy rule.

Junior shortstop Luke Nadler had a one-out double in the bottom of the first and junior catcher RJ Saleny led off the second with a single to account for New Bloomfield's hits.

Freshman starter Kaleb Brandt suffered the loss for the Wildcats (5-6, 1-2 SMC), surrendering eight runs - five earned - on five hits in 3 1/3 innings. Brandt (0-2) issued four walks and struck out three.

New Bloomfield hosts a nonconference game against Prairie Home at 5 p.m. Friday.
