MOKANE, Mo. - South Callaway freshman starter Kayleigh Torufa scattered five hits and struck out nine in the Lady Bulldogs' 8-2 nonconference win over Fayette on Wednesday night.
South Callaway (7-9) owned a 3-2 edge when it broke the game open with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Torufa gave up two runs - one earned - and walked none in going the distance for the victory.
Torufa helped herself at the plate by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored as the Lady Bulldogs collected nine hits. Freshman first baseman Kassidy Logan went 2-for-3.
South Callaway travels to New Bloomfield for a Show-Me Conference contest at 5 p.m. today.
