COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Mason Gaines and senior Jared Eliuk each qualified for sectionals in two events for the Fulton Hornets at the Class 4, District 4 championships Saturday at Battle High School.
Gaines took second in the 3,200 meters in 9 minutes, 54.56 second and was fourth in the 1,600 in 4:37.33 to advance to the Sectional 2 championships this Saturday at Mexico. Eliuk moved on by finishing fourth in both the 200 (:23.50) and 400 (:50.96).
Senior Tanner Steffen also qualified for sectionals by coming in third in the 110 hurdles (:16.26). The Fulton boys placed 10th as a team at the District 4 championships with 39 points.
In the girls' division, Fulton junior Kate Pani advanced by taking second in the long jump at 16 feet, 1/2 inch. The Lady Hornets finished 11th as a team with 18 points.
