Girls' Basketball: New Bloomfield 67, Linn 37

LINN, Mo. - New Bloomfield outscored Linn by a combined 41-22 in the second and third quarters Thursday night, cruising to the convincing Show-Me Conference rampage in a clash between Lady Wildcats.

New Bloomfield (15-6, 4-2 SMC) was only up 14-9 after the first quarter and extended its lead to 35-20 at halftime. New Bloomfield then outscored Linn 20-11 in the third quarter to open up a 55-31 advantage.

Junior guard Madi Craighead posted a game-high 19 points to spur three players in double figures for New Bloomfield. Senior guard Kate Baxter also tallied 15 points and sophomore center Samantha Haas delivered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

"I thought our defense was better than it has been," New Bloomfield head coach Brett Craighead said. "We played with more energy and were more active - we got our hands on balls.

"We also hit more shots and that takes the pressure off. We were able to get in our press (after scoring), it relaxed us a little bit."

Megan Thoenen scored a team-high nine points for Linn.

New Bloomfield (4-3) prevailed in the junior varsity game 41-27. Sophomore forward Katie Kelley logged a team-high 20 points and sophomore guard Haley Berhorst contributed 10.

New Bloomfield goes to Bunceton for a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m. Monday.
