Softball: New Bloomfield 8, Calvary Lutheran 2

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats defeated the Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions in a non-conference game on Thursday.

Calvary Lutheran took an early lead after scoring two runs in the first inning. New Bloomfield (15-1) scored two runs in the second, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Senior third baseman Kate Baxter went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored as the Lady Wildcats collected 11 hits. Junior shortstop Madi Craighead was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while senior first baseman Madison Love went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Sophomore starter Kaylee Beck went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while senior right fielder Rylee Rackers was 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Beck (13-0) went the distance to pick up the win for New Bloomfield. She allowed two earned runs on five hits, struck out seven and did not allow a walk.

The Lady Wildcats play their final Show-Me Conference game when they host St. Elizabeth at 5 p.m. today.
