Ladybirds thrash Mark Twain 16-0

North Callaway to battle for EMO title at Bowling Green on Thursday

CENTER, Mo. - North Callaway sophomore center fielder Lani Wilson had three hits and drove in three runs as the Ladybirds throttled Mark Twain in a 16-0 Eastern Missouri Conference blitz Tuesday night.

The game was called on the mercy rule after three innings.

Wilson went 3-for-3 and scored twice to help power a 14-hit attack for North Callaway (12-7, 8-1 Eastern Missouri Conference). Freshman second baseman Ellie Eckert also finished 3-for-3 with an RBI, scored three times and had three stolen bases.

Junior left fielder Carley VanBoening was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBI and scored once.

Junior starter Hanna Knipp threw two innings to pick up the win for the Ladybirds. Knipp (2-1) scattered two hits and struck out two.

The loss dropped Mark Twain to 2-13 on the season and 1-9 in conference play.

North Callaway goes to Bowling Green for a showdown with the Lady Bobcats for the EMO title at 5 p.m. Thursday.
