Boys' Basketball: Montgomery County 96, South Callaway 70

MOKANE, Mo. - The South Callaway Bulldogs couldn't build off an early lead in falling to the Montgomery County Wildcats in a decisive non-conference loss Tuesday night.

South Callaway (0-3) owned an 18-14 advantage after one quarter, but Montgomery County outscored the Bulldogs 27-15 in the second quarter and possessed a 41-33 lead into halftime. The Wildcats led 69-52 entering the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Kaden Helsel logged a game-high 21 points to spark three players in double figures for South Callaway. Senior guard Blake Parker also provided 19 points and junior guard Dylan Lepper had 14.

Chris Harrison topped four players in double figures with 20 points to guide Montgomery County. Aubrey Nelson was next with 16 points, Corey Kroll connected for 14 and Chase Parrish added 13.

The Bulldogs - paced by Dylan Paschang's game-high 18 points - rolled to a 57-36 triumph in the junior varsity game. BJ Moffat chipped in with 16 points.

South Callaway starts Show-Me Conference play with a county matchup at New Bloomfield at 6 p.m. Friday.
