Men's basketball: Iowa Wesleyan 75, Westminster 59

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The Blue Jays had their two-game SLIAC winning streak come to an end in Saturday's 16-point loss to the Tigers.

Westminster College - which had previously defeated Iowa Wesleyan University 77-72 on Nov. 28 in Fulton - slipped to 7-9 on the season and 6-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Blue Jays were down 36-27 at halftime Saturday and the Tigers secured the victory by outscoring Westminster 39-32 in the second half.

Senior guard Carter Wands - who connected on 7-of-13 shots - produced a game-high 21 points to lead three players in double figures for the Blue Jays, who shot just 37 percent (23-of-62) as a team. Junior guard Kobe Wands added 12 points and senior forward Romo Tabb contributed 11.

Tabb and Carter Wands shared game-high honors with eight rebounds apiece as Westminster edged Iowa Wesleyan 32-30 on the boards.

Alberto Torres answered with 13 points to pace three players in double figures for the Tigers (5-11, 3-6), who shot 45 percent (24-of-53) from the field. Jarryd Fernandes was next with 11 points and Austin Banks tallied 10.

The Blue Jays return home for a rescheduled SLIAC matchup against Greenville (Illinois) University at 3 p.m. Monday.
