Women's basketball: Greenville (Ill.) 76, Westminster 69

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Lady Blue Jays were unable to wipe out a 16-point halftime deficit and had their two-game SLIAC winning streak halted in a loss to the first-place Lady Panthers on Wednesday night.

Westminster College - which was swept in the season series by Greenville University - slipped to 18-6 overall and 11-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lady Blue Jays trailed 20-6 after one quarter and 41-25 at halftime.

Westminster tried to rally, outscoring the Lady Panthers 23-15 in the third quarter to close within 56-48. Greenville (20-4, 14-1) held on for the victory despite being edged by the Lady Blue Jays 21-20 in the fourth quarter.

Senior forward Mirrakohl Johnson tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to pace Westminster, which shot 42 percent (25-of-60) from the field. Senior guard Kendahl Adams added 15 points and junior forward Mikalyn Callahan contributed 10.

The Lady Blue Jays end the regular season with a SLIAC contest at MacMurray (Illinois) College at 1 p.m. Saturday. Westminster demolished MacMurray 114-66 on Jan. 16 in Fulton.
