Volleyball: Westminster 3, Iowa Wesleyan 1

The Lady Blue Jays halted a two-match losing streak with a 23-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-19 victory over the Lady Tigers to stay unbeaten in the SLIAC in Tuesday night's home opener.

Sophomore outside hitter Allie Kennebeck tallied a match-high 21 kills to guide Westminster College (7-3, 5-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Sophomore middle blocker Natalie Needy added 11 kills and junior setter Teresa Becker contributed 10.

Senior libero Bridget Ringwald topped the Lady Blue Jays with a match-high 26 digs and senior opposite player Micha Frasher provided 12. Freshman setter Madisyn Matthews recorded a match-high 27 assists and freshman setter Jill Reando had 12.

"Despite starting out slow, the team responded well to the early loss," Westminster head coach Natalia Koryzna said. "I'm proud of them for their resilience tonight."

The loss dropped Iowa Wesleyan University to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the SLIAC.

The Lady Blue Jays travel to Jacksonville, Illinois, on Saturday for SLIAC matches against Eureka College (11 a.m.) and Blackburn College (1 p.m.).
