Men's golf: William Woods finishes second at Alabama tourney

OPELIKA, Ala. - The Owls started their spring season by narrowly missing out on a first place finish at the Lawrence Tech Spring Break Invitational on Friday.

William Woods University posted a 23-over par 599 (304-295) in falling one shot short of team champion Lawrence Tech, which produced a 22-over par 598 (297-301).

Senior Jack Clarkson managed to take the individual title for the Owls with a 4-under 140 (72-68). Freshman Tom North finished seventh with a 149 (76-73), while junior Tyler Fieser tied for 19th with a 154 (80-74).

Senior Will Rushworth ended up 40th with a 160 (76-84) for William Woods, and freshman Harvey Talarczyk's 164 (84-80) was tied for 50th.

The Owls had three golfers compete as individuals, with freshman Logan Smith leading the way with a sixth-place score of 146 (76-70). Freshman Scott Young tied for 19th with a 154 (73-81), while junior James Rogers came in 34th with a 158 (75-83).

William Woods competes March 26 in the Columbia College Invite at Columbia Country Club.
