Men's basketball: William Woods 70, STLCOP 58

ST. LOUIS - Four players reached double figures to help direct the Owls, winners of three of their last four, to the American Midwest Conference triumph over the winless Eutectics on Thursday night.

Junior guard Brian Enriquez buried a 3-pointer to give William Woods University (9-9, 6-4 AMC) its biggest lead of the first half at 28-10 with 5 minutes, 49 seconds left. The Owls then went into halftime with a 37-23 advantage after freshman guard Chance Wilkerson scored in the lane with :02 to go.

William Woods opened up a 20-point edge, 65-45, on freshman guard Matt Burgess' 3 with 6:28 remaining in the game. St. Louis College of Pharmacy never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.

Senior guard DaShaun Stark and freshman forward Makenzie Fessler - who was 3-of-5 from 3-point range - finished with 13 points apiece to guide the Owls, who shot 47 percent (25-of-53) overall and 53 percent (8-of-15) from behind the arc. Enriquez - who hit 3-of-4 3s - added 12 points and senior center Hakeem Simon contributed 10.

Senior forward Darrien Dickey collected a game-high 11 rebounds to spur William Woods to a 38-28 edge on the boards.

Jordan Anderson and Ilias Kalogeropoulos shared game scoring honors with 14 points apiece for the Eutectics (0-14, 0-11), who shot just 36 percent (22-of-61) from the field. Anthony Vallejo logged 13 points and Colton Frazier was next with 12.

The Owls returned home for an AMC matchup against Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday at Anderson Arena. Results were not available at press time.
