Women's Basketball: Williams Baptist (Ark.) 61, William Woods 52

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The William Woods Lady Owls couldn't recover from a 14-2 first-quarter deficit to the Williams Baptist Lady Eagles in suffering their second straight American Midwest Conference loss Saturday.

William Woods (7-4, 4-2 AMC) outscored Williams Baptist 16-14 in the second quarter to make it 28-18 at halftime. The Lady Eagles, though, outscored the Lady Owls 18-13 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 46-31.

Junior guard Ashleigh Frampton scored 10 points as the only player to finish in double figures for William Woods, which shot a miserable 30 percent (20-of-67) from the field. Senior guard Bailey Rollins was next with nine points.

Junior guard Kaycee Gerald pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds as the Lady Owls were outrebounded 46-39.

Blessing Samuel led Williams Baptist (5-4, 2-3) with a game-high 16 points and Tia Brazell supplied 12. The Lady Eagles shot 40 percent (23-of-57) as a team.

William Woods travels to Greenville (Ill.) University for a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.
