Women's basketball: William Woods 77, Missouri Baptist 74

The Lady Owls opened up a nine-point halftime lead before fending off a late rally by the Lady Spartans to collect their fourth straight AMC victory Saturday at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University (7-2, 4-0 American Midwest Conference) was on top 17-13 after one quarter and went into halftime with a 35-26 lead. The Lady Owls maintained a 56-47 advantage entering the fourth quarter and held on for the three-point win despite being outscored by Missouri Baptist University 27-21 over the last 10 minutes.

Junior guard Peyton Greenlee made 11-of-15 shots - including 4-of-6 from 3-point range - and hit 8-of-10 free throws to direct William Woods with a career-high 34 points. Freshman forward Kasey Hazell provided 18 points for the Lady Owls, who shot 49 percent (26-of-53) as a team.

Hazell recorded a double-double by collecting a game-high 10 rebounds to power William Woods to a decisive 41-27 advantage on the boards.

Rose Wassef answered with 17 points to lead Missouri Baptist (3-6, 2-3), which shot 45 percent (31-of-69) from the field. Kadesha Cooper chipped in with 14 points.

The Lady Owls travel to No. 5 Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) University for an AMC contest at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.
