Baseball: Central Methodist 7-13, William Woods 6-6

FAYETTE - The Owls could not maintain early leads in both games as they were swept by the No. 22 Eagles in Tuesday night's nonconference doubleheader.

William Woods University owned a 6-3 edge over Central Methodist University in the opener. The Eagles, though, rallied with single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth, and won the game with two runs in the seventh.

The Owls (27-18) then raced out to a 6-0 advantage after three innings in the second game. However, Central Methodist (31-8) erupted for four runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth to take control.

William Woods - which has lost three in a row - returns to American Midwest Conference play with a three-game home series against Harris-Stowe State University. The two teams will play a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday at Backer Sports Complex, followed by a single game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
