Women's Basketball: William Woods 74, Park University 56

PARKVILLE, Mo. - The WWU Lady Owls extended their winning streak to six games by easing past the Park University Lady Pirates in an American Midwest Conference win Saturday.

William Woods University (17-7, 14-5 AMC) - which prevailed over Park 77-59 on Dec. 31 in Fulton - bolted to a 24-14 advantage after the first quarter Saturday and held a 34-27 lead at halftime. The Lady Owls outscored the Lady Pirates 19-10 in the third quarter to widen their advantage to 53-37.

Junior guard Jasmine Brown delivered a game-high 21 points to pace William Woods, which shot 49 percent (30-of-61) from the field. Senior center Kennedy Volkart produced 16 points and freshman guard Peyton Greenlee supplied 13.

Volkart also collected a team-high eight rebounds, but the Lady Owls were edged on the boards 43-41.

Park (5-17, 5-14) took a 43-41 edge on the boards.

Camille Buttorff and Lexus Bradley directed Park (5-17, 5-14) - which shot just 31 percent (22-of-72) as a team - with 12 points apiece.

William Woods travels to No. 24 Lindenwood University-Belleville (Illinois) for an AMC contest at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Lady Owls fell to the Lady Lynx 66-63 on Jan. 3 in Fulton.
