Blue Jays soccer team tumbles in Division III first round

CHICAGO - Westminster College couldn't keep up with Wisconsin-Platteville's blistering offense in a 5-0 loss in the first round of the NCAA Division III national tournament Saturday night.

The Blue Jays finished the season with an 8-10-2 record.

"We picked a bad day for a bad game, but we give credit to Wisconsin-Platteville for the win," Westminster head coach Adam Galla said. "Their speed of play and athleticism were excellent."

Westminster quickly fell behind 2-0 after junior midfielder Brad Strobel tallied goals for the Pioneers in the 3rd and 15th minutes.

After the break, Wisconsin-Platteville pressed the advantage with back-to-back goals from junior forward Logan Rinderknecht in the 53rd and 63rd minutes. Strobel would punch in another goal in the 67th minute to secure a hat trick.
