Cross Country: William Woods men, women finish third, fifth in AMC

ELSAH, Ill. - The WWU Owls and Lady Owls came in third and fifth, respectively, at the American Midwest Conference championships Friday.

Senior Kyle Gabrielson finished 11th in 26 minutes, 43.81 seconds as the William Woods University men totalled 73 points. Freshman Schuyler Ogden was 12th in 26:45.67 and his brother, freshman Nathaniel Ogden, followed in 13th in 26:46.33.

Freshman Ben Farrell placed 17th in 27:16.74 and freshman Hunter Carpenter took 20th in 27:28.85.

Freshman Kimi Putnam was eighth in 19:48.20 and freshman Harley Nale was a close ninth in 19:55.92 as the William Woods women logged 137 points. Putnam and Nale both qualified for the NAIA national championship Nov. 18 in Vancouver, Washington.

Freshman Katie Keath finished 25th in 21:39.90 for the Lady Owls on Friday, while freshman Jaclyn McMurtry - a North Callaway graduate - placed 54th in 24:15.07. Freshman Shaley Eichholz came in 57th in 24:25.57.

Columbia College completed a sweep of the AMC men's and women's team titles.
