Women's Basketball: Lyon (Ark.) 77, William Woods 74

The No. 9 Lyon Lady Scots outscored the WWU Lady Owls 11-8 in overtime to pick up an American Midwest Conference victory at Anderson Arena on Thursday night.

William Woods University (11-7, 8-5 AMC) - which has lost three of its last four - trailed 59-45 with 7 minutes, 58 seconds left in regulation. The Lady Owls forced overtime by going on a 21-7 run - capped off on a basket in the paint by senior guard April Gebke with 1:26 to go - to tie the game at 66-all.

Lyon College (14-2, 10-1) had a 16-11 lead after the first quarter and carried a 37-23 advantage into the break. William Woods outscored the Lady Scots 19-17 in the third quarter, but was still down 54-42.

Junior forward Jasmine Brown logged 20 points to direct the Lady Owls, who also bowed at Lyon 78-64 on Nov. 17. Freshman guard Kaycee Gerald tallied 17 points and senior center Kennedy Volkart added 10 for William Woods, which shot 47 percent (28-of-59) as a team Thursday night.

Freshman guard Peyton Greenlee pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, but William Woods was edged on the boards 37-33.

Kiara Moore paced the Lady Scots - who shot 42 percent (28-of-66) as a team - with a game-high 21 points. Elliot Taylor supplied 13 points and Madison Riley came up with 10.

William Woods hosts AMC opponent Central Baptist (Arkansas) College at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Arena. The Lady Owls prevailed at Central Baptist 86-79 on Nov. 19.
