Women's Basketball: Westminster 91, Kansas Christian 59

Senior forward Andrea Zalis tallied a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds to help the Westminster Lady Blue Jays demolish the Kansas Christian Lady Falcons in a non-conference game on Monday.

Westminster (6-9) led 17-11 after the first quarter and outscored Kansas Christian 30-17 in the second quarter to extend its advantage to 47-28 at halftime. The Lady Blue Jays outscored the Lady Falcons 25-20 in the third period to maintain a 72-48 lead.

Sophomore forward Mirrakohl Johnson scored 15 points as Westminster shot 58 percent (36-of-62) from the field. Johnson also pulled down seven rebounds to help the Lady Blue Jays dominate the Lady Falcons 50-25 on the boards.

"The team did a good job of running the floor and creating opportunities for easy baskets," Westminster head coach Tracey Braden said. "This was a nice team win."

Dajanae Wilson directed Kansas Christian with 22 points as the Lady Falcons shot 33 percent (22-of-66) from the floor. Adreonna Hughes provided 14 points, while Cieara Carter produced 11.

Westminster plays a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Fontbonne at 1 p.m. Saturday.
